Have the 2020 Primary School placements made you think about moving home?

If you have children it’s been a little while now since the big day of finding out if your child got your first choice of primary school. For many there will have been sighs of relief and cries of joy at securing a place in the desired school, for some, it will have been a disappointing and in some cases worrying outcome.

For the minority now needing to put a plan into action, there are largely 3 options. You can accept the place, appeal, or, look at other schools.

You may also be considering if moving house could potentially be an option that helps you to secure that desired school place in the future.

There’s quite a choice of primary schools across Lancaster and Morecambe, we’ve detailed a selection on the maps below. We’ve also provided some inspiration with the types of family homes we currently have for sale.

The team live locally across Lancaster and Morecambe and their children attend local schools. Graham, in fact, has just gone through this process himself. If local schools are a factor that you are thinking about in relation to your next move and you would like any help or advice please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We are here to help.

Does it cost more to live closer to some schools?

Michelle has detailed in previous blogs how houses have an emotional and logical value.

The logical price of a home is achieved by looking at comparable properties in close post code proximity and what they have sold for, combined with current market conditions and the condition of the house in question.
The emotional price of a home is the top amount somebody is going to pay.

Emotional value can come down to many things, the condition and finish of the home, it could be that it’s close to family or it could be a location reason that really matters, for example, is it in the catchment area of the desired school and therefore in high demand?

The infographic below shows how houses close to Ofsted outstanding primary schools can command a premium price, this is across the UK in general.
