Why do people home locally?

Do you ever wonder why some people move lots, whilst others never move at all? I do. It’s a question I ask often.

Everybody has a story to tell. The story of why you bought your home. The story of the memories you have made and the story of why you are moving. Or even, not moving!

At the lower end of the market, many people’s reason for moving is that they need more space. Listen to their story though, and it might be they have recently got married or that they are expecting their first child. They could be now working from home and need extra space for a home office. The kids could be growing and they need bigger bedrooms. In the price region of £125,000 – £250,000 – the reason for more space accounts for 23% of all moves!

What we found really interesting though is 1 in 6 home movers move for a change of scenery/change of lifestyle choice. This is more common in the top-end market. It’s an interesting one, today alone we have had a couple looking to buy in the Lune Valley up to £600,000 as they want countryside living and to be able to walk to a village pub. We’ve also had a couple wanting to move into the city so they can walk to wine bars and theatres!

People want different things from their homes. Covid has taught many people what is important. 10% of sellers are moving to be closer to family. 7% are selling due to retirement. Some people for happy reasons. Some people for sad reasons. Whatever your reason though, we are here to listen to your moving story and help you achieve your moving plans.
