4 fun ways Lancaster and Morecambe residents are using their living rooms

As we enter week 2 of the Covid-19 lockdown we thought we would look at 4 fun ways, Lancaster and Morecambe residents are doing to keep both themselves and their family, fit, calm and also entertained in the comfort of their living room!

There are so many online activities now happening that it really is opening up a whole new way of having to work but also have fun. These are unprecedented times and we have had to adapt quickly and also become rather inventive.

4 fun ways – share your ideas with us!

For the Sport lovers

For the 9.9 million people in the UK who are members of health and fitness clubs, our homes are now sports venues as we transform our living space to accommodate P.E., dance, yoga, and fitness classes.

There are some great options out there and even local gyms and fitness instructors have started to do their own versions. We really love what Temple Yoga in Lancaster is doing. Check out their Facebook page. To take part, they are asking for a small donation to charity.

Meditation

Meditation is the UK’s favourite form of wellbeing therapy, followed by mental health therapy and acupuncture (Bupa). Finding quiet space for prioritising mental wellbeing in our homes remains key.

There are so many apps that provide guidance and practice and also Facebook support groups too. The Exhale Centre in Lancaster provided a great link on their Facebook page to a free online course in Meditation. Also, our very own Hazel Hardie is a practitioner.

Dance Class

Next is dancing. Over 66,000 people tuned in to join a kids dance class with Oti Mabuse and Marius Lapure. Just in case you don’t recognise the names, this famous couple are ballroom dancers who have featured on Strictly Come Dancing! Oti was crowned champion of the show at the end of 2019

A sing-song

Last but not least is a good old sing-song. From choir practice to a sing-along with Gary Barlow, music is being enjoyed in so many different ways. Have you joined with the Great British Home Chorus yet?

How are you using your living room? Please share your ideas with us and we can help each keep entertained, relaxed and happy as we all self isolate during this lockdown.

Message us your ideas or drop me an email – it is michelle@jdg.co.uk and we’ll share your ideas with the residents of Lancaster and Morecambe. We are in this together!
