Are you considering moving home in Lancaster or Morecambe?

Hello. Can you help me? I want to check if the statement above is really correct? Are you in the process of moving home or at least considering it?

According to some research that has just been released by Nationwide, 38% of people are considering moving home or are in the process of doing so. The reason why I am questioning this is that figure seems awfully high. In a normal year between 3-4% of the population move.

In Lancaster – LA1 – there are 21,456 dwellings. Over the last 12 months, there have been 823 property sales. This equates to 3.8% of the local population. Not 38%!

Now admittedly, Nationwide only questioned 3000 people and we do not know from what background, hence I question this data!

Of those questioned, a desire for space continues to motivate many. 1 in 4 of those moving or considering a move stated this was to go to a larger property, although 38% of those aged 55 and above were seeking to downsize. It’s all very interesting.

There is also an argument by a well-known industry figure that every home in the UK is on the market for sale. He believes every home has a price. I’m not sure the Queen, nor the farmer in the middle of the M62 would agree!

I asked my colleague if he was considering moving. He said no. I asked him what he thought his property was worth. He replied £115,000. I asked if he would sell it for £120,000. He said no. But he did reply, at £130,000 he’d move!

So my question today is, are you at least considering moving? At what price would you consider it? Is the research above correct?

My name is Michelle Gallagher. If you are thinking of moving can we talk? My role is to help you achieve the best price for your home. This year we have agreed 130 property sales and on average achieved 99.3% of the asking price for our clients. I’d love to help you.
