Christmas Hits and UK and Lancaster Property Prices

As it is December we thought we would share some fun Christmas facts with you and today it’s about Christmas Number 1’s and how property prices have risen in that time.

It all started when Craig told the team that Lad Baby had decided not to release a Christmas song this year, despite their fantastic success over the past 5 years, with 5 number ones. It will be interesting to see who takes the number one spot. Will it be Creator Universe — I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every day, with all funds raised going to the Trussell Trust or will The Pogues featuring Kirsty MacColl — Fairytale Of New York pip them? It’s going to be a close one. Or could it be someone else…..

LadBaby has been the UK Christmas number 1 single for the past five years, with hits: ‘Food Aid’, ‘Sausage Rolls for Everyone’, ‘Don’t Stop Me Eatin’, ‘I Love Sausage Rolls’ and ‘We Built This City’.

Prior to LadBaby, the last time someone else held the top spot was Ed Sheeran in 2017 with ‘Perfect’. Back then the average UK house price was £225,330. As of September 2023, it is £291,385, 29% higher.

Closer to home in Lancaster, prices have risen by 23% over the past years with the average house price now being £173,248. Compared to other parts of the UK, Lancaster house prices are still affordable!

Here is an interesting fact for you to share over Christmas dinner. LadBaby has had more Christmas number ones than any other artist, surpassing even the Beatles!
