Do you love your Lancaster home more than your partner?

Given the fact it’s valentine’s week, I am not expecting you to answer that question! It’s more hypothetical.

According to the 2021/22 English Housing Survey, an owner-occupier spends on average 17.6 years in their home. I was sharing this data with my team when one of my colleagues who was playing with the new AI website Chat GPT piped up that the average UK marriage is only 12.3 years! ( We have since found that a website called Scribbler also says the same). Apparently, in America, it is even less!

Back in the UK and the land of love, we adore our homes. We have always said that buying a home is like falling in love. You can expect to go through the same ups and downs, emotional tugs and pulls, and even similar stages. You try to think with your head when making such a huge purchase, but ultimately you need to feel it with heart. They say within just a few minutes, you know when viewing if it “feels right”.

Sadly it is estimated in the region of 1 in 3 property sales fall through before completion. Buyers having a change of heart is the biggest cause. Thankfully at JDG our fall-through rate is much lower. Maybe we are just better at match-making, or as in any relationship, through great communication, we keep the relationship alive!

So with that, I shall wish you all a very happy week of love. I hope you too can find a home that you truly love and call home but remember when you are ready to break up with it, even on the friendliest terms, just remember, I am always here to help and find you the next “one”
