How energy efficiency has become a big concern to Lancaster and Morecambe Homeowners

It was Dean Martin that sang, Baby it’s cold out there as he showed off his roaring fire. How right was he. The temperature outside has dropped to -7 overnight and somedays it struggles to get past 0. The problem is, for some people, it’s also cold indoors.

Back in October, I noted on social media how people gloated with glee that they hadn’t put their heating on. Some people probably didn’t need to. Mine however was on low, my wood burner was often lit and I did start wearing a warm jumper in the evening. Right now, I am not ashamed to say I have my thermals on, under my suit, in a bid to keep warmer.

Keeping warm is now a priority for many. The heating has had to be switched on and as the days are shorter we all switching our lights on earlier thus using more electricity. Sadly, many of us are watching our smart meters due to the rising energy costs. I know I check mine.

This is why 79% of homebuyers now say energy efficient and low running costs are important when it comes to choosing their next home.

How energy efficiency is your home? And if you are planning on selling your home soon, what can you do to increase the energy efficiency before it goes up for sale. Can you get it up from a D to a C? Buyers will be comparing. Years ago they didn’t seem to care. Now they care deeply.

The future is going to be an interesting one. Currently only 250,000 of the 29 million homes in the UK use a heat pump to heat their homes, but this is set to increase. From 2025, all new build homes must be heated via low carbon sources.

My name is Michelle Gallagher, if I can help you at all with your property needs or advise you which are the warmest thermals to buy, please get in touch. At JDG we are here to help.
