Lancaster, The Queen and our Royal Addresses!

It’s Jubilee week and if you have been following our social media, you will have noticed our office is Jubilee ready. We have even had The Queen showing some of her favourite homes!

Last week we looked at how property prices have changed in the past in the past 70 years. Today we thought we would look closer at the Jubilee – related addresses we have in Lancaster!

Lancaster has royal links. Don’t forget the Queen is the Duke of Lancaster and owns Lancaster Castle. This connection has inspired the names of many of our streets.

Let’s start with Queen Street, home to some beautiful Georgian homes. Queen Street leads down to Queens Square and is also home to Regency Court. Close by there is Royal Court, Elizabeth Court and Diana Court. We also have King Street in the city centre.

Over in Beaumont we have Coronation Way (although this is closer linked to Coronation Street than the Queen!). In Bowerham there is Windsor Avenue and in Greaves there is Princess Avenue. Regal Terrace is in Skerton. And lets not forget Royal Oak Avenue out in the village of Hornby!

Across the UK, the word ‘Queen’ has featured in the addresses of more than 1,000 homes sold since the start of 2021. Another 650 included ‘Elizabeth’ and 150 were blessed with the fully regal ‘Queen Elizabeth’. What is also really interesting is that across the UK, Properties sold on addresses including ‘Royal’ achieved average sales prices of over £360,000, with those including ‘Crown’ achieving over £300,000. Maybe it does to pay to be Royal!

This week’s blog is just bit a of fun, however can you think of any Royal inspired street names that we have missed? Let us know!
