Covid 19 has changed the way we live and is likely to leave a long lasting legacy behind. People across the UK have never spent as long at home as they have done over the past 10 week. Because of this people have come to realise the importance of their home and what they really both want and need out of it.
The Wiazrd of Oz got it right when he said – “There is no place like home”. Jane Austen famously said- “There is nothing like staying at home for real comfort” and Cecelia Ahern said – “Home is not a place, it is a feeling”.
In such a short time buyers needs have changed. Buyers are looking for homes with greater flexibility as the need to have a home office have increased. Because of this buyers are asking more and more about the local broadband speeds. Many have released the kids playing computers games whilst Netflix is streaming in a different room and they are trying to work, isn’t as easy as it sounds!
There are other considerations too. Buyers are increasingly wanting more outside space, the desire to live in a village location has increased and their is a surge in people wanting to live closer to family. Lockdown has highlighted what is truly important to us and the way we live.
If you are thinking of selling your home or maybe you are buying for investment, knowing what people want from their home will help you with your marketing and plan.
This is what we are now focussing on at JDG. What a home really offers and how it matches up with what a buyer is actually looking for.
