Why outdoor space is important to Lancaster and Morecambe homeowners
Summer has officially begun and with the fabulous weather we have been experiencing in Lancaster and Morecambe, don’t we know it. The JDG body warmers are off, the office fridge is full of cold drinks and we are all thankful we have an office garden with a picnic bench…..

This week has been national picnic week, which got the team talking about where they like to go for a picnic. Some of us like to go up to the Lakes. Many of us head to the beach and I think we have all enjoyed a picnic in either Happy Mount Park or Williamson Park.

Across the UK, 95.1% of homes are within a 10-minute walk of green space. Luckily for us, 100% of homes are across Lancaster and Morecambe as we have lots of parks, mini parks, countryside, canal and riverside walks.

Sometimes we forget how lucky we are. Only 18.5% of homes are within a 30-minute walk of the beach. We don’t have this issue in Morecambe. Plus our beaches are fabulous, with both Morecambe North and Morecambe South beaches having blue flag status.

Picnics are also a great way to enjoy the fresh air and relax. They are a fun and low-cost way to enjoy time with friends and family. It is estimated that on average people picnic at least three times a year. With the population of Great Britain around 65 million, that’s a lot of picnics!

So I ask the question, do you prefer to picnic in the park, at the beach or even in your back garden? I’d love to know! This summer you’ll find me in the JDG garden with “picnic” nibbles for lunch. Sausage Roll anyone?

My name is Michelle Gallagher. If you would like to live near the coast or close to a park, let me know. At JDG we are here to help. You can call me on 01524 843322 or email me at michelle@jdg.co.uk.
